Grief Resources

Why go it alone?

Funeral Grief CounselingThe post-funeral days can be difficult. More so for some people than others. That’s why we have close ties with support groups and services that help with grief. Holidays can be especially hard, so let us help you.

Often the more you know, the better. This is especially true regarding post-funeral pain. When the funeral ends, the healing process is just beginning. We understand this and work for you and yours to take the steps that move people beyond the pain and to integrate the loss into your lives. We want to help support your grieving with time-tested materials, research, and local support groups. We hope that the resources listed below will be of support to you.

Online Grief Support

Online Grief SupportIf you have lost a loved one and would like to experience grief support from the comfort of your home, we offer Guiding Grief. This is our new interactive grief support application. While many have found this helpful, it is not meant to replace professional grief counseling.

We Care & Share Support Group

Tennessee Grief SupportOur We Care & Share support group consists of men and women who have experienced the death of their husband or wife. The support group is designed to help with the transition following death of a spouse by offering social opportunities to meet new friends in a safe environment. Our group members are never expected to talk about their experiences if they do not wish to. This group gives widows and widowers an opportunity to get out of the house, a place to be, something to look forward to, a place to belong, and a chance to meet new friends. Our group meets monthly for different types of activities which vary from month to month. There are no obligations or dues to pay to join our group. For more information, please feel free to contact Lisa Gibson at 865-983-1000. Please know that we care and are always here to help.

Marvin R. Gibson Memorial Library

Grief LibraryOur lending library includes hundreds of books, brochures, videos, and inspirational materials relating to grief and bereavement. Often, those who have suffered a loss find comfort in reading the thoughts and experiences of others who have been affected in the same way. Do you need help with finding a particular book? Give us a call and we'll be glad to help.

Children & Grief

It is not easy to explain death and loss to a child. The concepts are often much too complex to for them to fully grasp. To assist children in understanding these difficult subjects, we offer the Sesame Street: When Families Grieve book and video. Many people have found these resources helpful. Please call 865-983-1000 for your FREE copy.

GriefWords On-Line Research Library

We are pleased to offer the Grief Words Library by Dr. Alan Wolfelt, Ph.D.  These thoughtful articles provide guidance and direction for anyone touched by grief.  Please feel free to take advantage of this helpful tool by clicking here.  You can print the articles and share with others too. We know this resource library will help in guiding you through your difficult time.
